                  <text>Pasquale Vinaccia (1806 – c. 1882), son of Gaetano was an Italian luthier, appointed instrument-maker for the Queen of Italy, and maternal grandfather to Carlo Munier. In 1835 he improved the mandolin, creating a version of the instrument that used steel wires for strings, known today as the "Neapolitan Mandolin."His use of steel strings has become the dominant way of stringing mandolins. </text>

                <text>&lt;p&gt;This instrument was crafted by the renowned &lt;strong&gt;&lt;span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"&gt;&lt;span class="whitespace-normal"&gt;Pasquale Vinaccia&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; in Naples in 1877. By 1903, it required restoration and was brought to the workshop of &lt;strong&gt;&lt;span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"&gt;&lt;span class="whitespace-normal"&gt;Luigi Embergher&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;, where it was re-topped in his distinctive style and fitted with a new fretboard.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The instrument bears Luigi Embergher’s signature on the inner side of the soundboard and retains both the original Pasquale Vinaccia paper label and the later-added Luigi Embergher paper label on the inner side of the bowl. &lt;/p&gt;
