The Classical Mandolin Archive is a labour of love. What began as a small personal project has grown into one of the world's largest online archives dedicated to bowlback mandolins. Hundreds of hours have gone into researching makers, identifying instruments, collecting photographs, restoring historical information, and maintaining the website so that this knowledge remains freely available to everyone.
The archive is completely non-commercial. There are no subscriptions, no paid access, and no advertising. Every page is available free of charge to collectors, musicians, researchers, restorers, museums, and anyone with an interest in the history of the classical mandolin.
Running and expanding the archive does, however, involve ongoing costs: web hosting, domain registration, backups, software, equipment, and countless hours spent researching and cataloguing new instruments.
